Are you gearing up for a big race? Have a nagging injury and looking for advice? Looking to improve your overall running performance?

If so, please join us for the 2017 Illinois Bone and Joint Institute Running Clinic! Whether you are new to running or have years of experience, the clinic will be beneficial. IBJI clinicians will spend roughly one hour analyzing your strength, flexibility, foot type and running mechanics. You will be given individualized tips on running form, shoe recommendations and a personal home exercise program address any impairments. Your goal is our goal; injury prevention, improved performance or both!

When the evaluation is over you will have the chance to talk with shoe experts from The Runner’s Edge regarding their latest models. IBJI massage therapists will be present to discuss how massage can aide recovery and you can receive a short massage demo.

Event cost: $50 per runner

IBJI Sports Medicine Knowledge Bowl

The athletic trainers at IBJI would like to invite all high school sports medicine clubs and classes to the 5th annual Sports Medicine Knowledge Bowl on Saturday, February 25th. Teams will be challenged in the areas of anatomy, evaluation, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, manual muscle tests, and special tests. A formal study guide will be provided to your team following registration.

The winning team will receive a $250 grant for their school’s program.

The Knowledge Bowl will be hosted at our Highland Park Rehab facility, 1919 Skokie Valley Road Highland Park, IL 60035. Competition will begin at 10am. Lunch will be provided. There is no registration fee but we are limiting each school to 2 five-person teams.

Active By Design Summit

Join leaders from more than a dozen north and northwest suburban communities in a discussion with local and national experts on the safety, health, economic, environmental and social benefits of designing communities that promote physical activity.

Summit speakers will include nationally renowned active transportation advocate Mark Fenton and Eric Chehab, MD of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute.  A panel of local community leaders will present complete street enhancements in their hometowns and strategies for funding healthier places for walking and bicycling. This summit is intended for local city and municipal government officials, school and park district representatives, and those interested in learning more about active community design. Registration is required for this free event.

Fenton is a national public health, planning and transportation consultant, an adjunct associate professor at Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and former host of the "America's Walking" series on PBS television. Following the running evaluation, our wellness team will be providing education, stretching and sports massage. Runners Edge will also be present with current shoe trends and advice.

The Running Clinic will be held Saturday March 5th at our Logan Square location at 2923 N California Ave, Chicago, IL. The clinic begins at 8:00am and finishes at noon. Each runner will be assigned a time slot and should plan to be there approximately one hour. The cost of the clinic is $50.

We will also be collecting your old and gently worn shoes for Share Your Soles. These shoes will be distributed to impoverished people throughout the world. For more info on the cause visit shareyoursoles.org.

Fall Soccer Clinic with UWNST Champion Lori Chalupny

llinois Bone and Joint Institute is proud to present, in partnership with the Chicago Red Stars, our Fall Soccer Skill and Injury Prevention Clinic. 

Participants will be guided through a functional movement and performance screening which will highlight areas of strength and opportunities for improving movements specific to soccer.  Additionally, IBJI performance trainers will provide suggestions and training tips to help keep athletes healthy and strong. Athletes will then work directly with Chicago Red Star trainers and Lori Chalupny to develop soccer specific skills, including ball handling, defensive and offensive strategies, and goal keeping.

Dare2Tri Clinic

Dare2Tri's One Day Multisport Clinic is open to athletes with disabilities of all ages, ability levels, and experience with triathlon.  The clinic provides a unique and experiential opportunity for all who are ready to kick off the triathlon season and experience coaching and training in swimming, cycling, running, and/or wheelchair pushing.  The event includes functional strength training and yoga, swim, cycling, and run/push clinics lead by highly trained and qualified coaches and mentor athletes. 

The One Day Multisport Clinic is hosted at Illinois Bone & Joint, Vision Quest Cycling, and Foss Swim School, which are all conveniently located at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue in Highland Park, Illinois.  This event offers a fantastic introduction to the sport of triathlon, and it's a great way to get fired up about the upcoming triathlon season with targeted coaching in each of the various disciplines!

Sports Medicine Knowledge Bowl

IBJI is hosting the 3rd annual Sports Medicine Knowledge Bowl for area high school athletic training clubs and classes. Students compete for a chance to win a $250 grant for their school's club. Topics include anatomy, physiology, orthopedic assessment, treatment and rehab as well as other sports medicine concerns. This event is geared toward helping the growth of these clubs in their schools and fostering an awareness of Athletic Training and other sports medicine professions.

Shoe Drive for Share Your Soles

IBJI is collecting shoes for Share Your Soles in conjunction with our Running Clinic on January 24th. These shoes will be donated to those in need of a pair throughout the world. For more information about Share Your Soles, visit www.shareyoursoles.org.

Shoes can be dropped off in Glenview, Libertyville and Morton Grove PT clinics starting Monday. Shoes must be able to be worn again and can be all types of shoes, not just running shoes. Contact Annika with questions. asafstrom@ibji.com

Advanced Pitchers Boot Camp

This high intensity Pitchers Boot Camp is designed for althetes who are motivated and interested in taking their game to the next level. There will be NO throwing involved in this program; instead, participants will focus on pitching mechanics, specific strength & conditioning, with a focus on reducing the risk of injury.

The camp runs for 6 weeks on Mondays and Thursdays for a total of 12 sessions. Each session is from 4:00pm until 5:30pm at our HPI facility in Highland Park.

We're excited to announce our 1st Annual Golf Performance Clinic which will be held Saturday June 30th, 2012 from 7:30am - 11:30am.

Meet with our Physical Therapy staff for dynamic analysis of your golf swing. Using video, we breakdown the components of your swing to assess the physical limitations keeping you from having the swing you want.

Our goal is to educate you about your body and give you the tools to move towards a better understanding of how your individual strength and weaknesses effect your swing & your game.

After that golfers can explore the benefits of Health and Nutrition and talk to one of the golf pros from Highland Park County Club at our Gold Expo.
