Illinois Bone and Joint Institute's inaugural Running Clinic was an overwhelming success!
On May 15th IBJI Glenview's physical therapy gym had 38 runners from all over Chicagoland pass through an extensive running clinic from 8 am until noon. A total of 25 physical therapists made this possible by volunteering at various stations offering assessments in areas of foot and shoe type, video gait analysis, and flexibility and strength analyses. This was all followed up by a customized home exercise program tailored to each individual runner from the results of the previous stations.
Our goals for the clinic were to guide the runner towards an optimal running style by minimizing strain on his/her body while improving strength and flexibility. Runner evaluations from the event had glowing results with high marks and positive commentary by nearly all! We look forward to future running clinics, and thank all of the IBJI volunteers!
