Davies Upper Extremity Stability Test

IBJI Athletic Trainer Matt Repa talks about how to perform the Davies Upper Extremity Stability Test.  Instructions for this test are as follows;

  • 3 foot long tape is placed on the floor
  • Patient gets in push-up position or modified (depending on gender)
  • When told to start the patient will alternatively move their hands from one end of the tape to the other and place it back where originally started as fast as they can for 15seconds
  • The number of completed reps is recorded
  • The test is completed 3 times and an average score is taken

Patient passes if they complete more then the average reps for their respective gender
68% bodyweight (lbs) x total number of reps/15
Average reps for Males = 21 - Average reps for females = 23
